Linq to Twitter not working and token suspended

Aug 10, 2010 at 10:11 PM

I downloaded today the Linq to Twitter demo package and tried to run it on my machine.

The web application compile, but when I try to run, it keep throwing this error message on the browser:

No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it

If I debug and look closely I see that the code that is giving an exception is this:

resp = req.GetResponse(); - from TwitterExecute.cs

After a few tries I received a e-mail from twitter saying that my token was suspended.

"This is a notice that your OAuth token for ....... has been suspended from interacting with the Twitter API.

Please make sure that your application follows Twitter's API Terms of Service

To request for your token to be re-enabled, please write to api@twitte .."

I only used my keys for this test, I don't understand how can the code don't work and suspend my token.

To use OAuth with Twitter, you have to register your application and get a set of tokens, which you put in appSettings of your config file.  Since everything is working fine for me and I haven't seen anyone else with the same problem, it looks like something is not quite right with your tokens or there might be a problem with the Twitter API.

Here's a link for registering a new app and obtaining tokens:

Here's a link you can use to check the API status:

If the API is working and your tokens still don't work, you might want to use the email Twitter gave you,, to communicate with tech support.
