The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure

Hey all,

I've created a C# app that hooks up to twitter using a SingleUserAuthorizer. The app is part of a project that is attempting to condense the amount of little tiny websites that marketing gives us into one server. So what we've done is create an httpmodule that intercepts any request, and based on the host name, redirects that request to the appropriate folder. So we have several different host names all pointing to the same IP address, all living on the same server. One of the sites uses SSL, so there is an SSL certificate on the server, but the others do not, including the site that I'm creating now. But from what I understand, SSL works by checking the IP address and not the host name, so that shouldn't be an issue if the host name doesn't match the certificate. It should only be looking at the IP address. That's the only thing I can think of though that might be a little funky.

The app is working exactly like its supposed to on my dev box, but whenever I push it up to production I get this error:

The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure

Anyone have any experience working through this error? Google has brought me to a couple scenarios, but no success so far. The Twitter forums also had some folks with this same problem, but no solutions were presented in the discussion. The little I could glean seems to indicate that it's an SSL thing, but I have no idea how to troubleshoot this. any ideas?

Don't know if it will help, but here are a few items you might want to know:
  1. The default URLs that LINQ to Twitter sends are https.
  2. Twitter API v1.1 requires HTTPS.
  3. LINQ to Twitter uses HttpWebRequest and WebClient.
